A Linear LAG for ai ! Markus Schulze Department of Computational Linguistics

چکیده
The mainstream of syntax analysis has been discussing the question of mathematical complexity of natural language parsingmostly in relation to the well-known Chomsky-hierarchy. There are however other grammar models with different complexity-hierarchies that are worth looking at. This paper presents a grammar for ai! that parses with linear complexity in a non-PSGformalism, while a PSG for this language would have exponential complexity. The underlying grammar formalism used here is the left-associative grammar (LAG), which is based on the principle of possible continuations. In contrast to conventional LAGs with a category consisting of one double-ended queue (deque), the grammar presented here, uses three deques. Accordingly it is shown how the complexity class of a LAG with n deques can be found. This is done with essentially the same criteria as it is done when discussing single-deque LAGs.

متن کاملEffects of Gravitational and Hydrostatic Initial Stress on a Two-Temperature Fiber-Reinforced Thermoelastic Medium for Three-Phase-Lag
The three-phase-lag model and Green–Naghdi theory without energy dissipation are employed to study the deformation of a two-temperature fiber-reinforced medium with an internal heat source that is moving with a constant speed under a hydrostatic initial stress and the gravity field. The modulus of the elasticity is given as a linear function of the reference temperature. The exact expressions ...

Background and Objectives: The Covid-19 epidemic began in Wuhan, China in the late 2019 and became a global epidemic in March 2020. In this regard, one of the most important indicators of the healthcare systems is the in-hospital mortality rate, which occurs with a time lag of one to two weeks after hospitalization. The aim of this study was to investigate the relative risk of Covid-19 mortalit...
متن کاملThe Loom-lag for Syntax Analysis Adding a Language-independent Level to Lag 1 Background the Left-associative Grammar Model (lag)
The left-associative grammar model (LAG) has been applied successfully to the mor-phologic and syntactic analysis of various european and asian languages. The algebraic deenition of the LAG is very well suited for the application to natural language processing as it inherently obeys de Saussure's second law (de Saussure, 1913, p. 103) on the linear nature of language, which phrase-structure gra...
